After starring as boxer Rocky Balboa in seven films over 42 years, it looks like Sylvester Stallone isn’t ready to hang up the gloves just yet.
On Dec. 16, Stallone teased a mysterious new Rocky-related project on his Twitter account, claiming that whatever it is is “extraordinary” and will be able to be viewed in a few months. That would seem to rule out another Rocky movie — which is probably for the best — but it does open the door to some exciting prospects. Is he opening some sort of Rocky museum or exhibition? Opening a boxing school? Announcing an exclusive Rocky streaming service (that one’s a joke… we hope)? Stallone made the announcement in Philadelphia in front of the famous Rocky statue, so maybe it’s related to the city or the statue in some way?
Followers of Stallone on social media had their own ideas on what the big announcement could be, with fans sarcastically suggesting everything from sequels to Over the Top and Stop, or My Mom Will Shoot! to seemingly sincere hopes for a Rocky VII announcement. Check out Sly’s cryptic announcement below, and as he says, keep punching.
Back in Philadelphia right now on this 33° freezing morning. We are doing something that is going to be VERY special and you’ll be seeing it soon, so hang in there and go for it!!! #KeepPunching pic.twitter.com/xokvSaYVFx
