Nicolas Cage has played a number of ridiculous roles over the years, but his latest sounds like the wildest of them all.
Cage is set to play a fictionalized version of himself in the very cheekily titled The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, where he will be trying to land a role in a fictional Quentin Tarantino movie (no word on whether Tarantino himself is actually in the movie). Cage’s character is in serious debt (a poke at Cage’s real-life financial escapades), so he accepts a lucrative gig to attend the birthday party of a Mexican billionaire. He’s then informed that the billionaire is actually the leader of a drug cartel, and Cage is recruited by the CIA to bring him down. What follows is presumably a bonkers action movie with Nic Cage playing Nic Cage battling a drug cartel. Awesome.
The film has just received a release date of March 19, 2021, which is, unfortunately, more than a year away. Now that we know such a film exists, how are we supposed to possibly go another year without seeing this thing? Is cryogenic freezing a viable option yet? Would a medically-induced coma be wise? What’s the status of the invention of time travel? We’re willing to do whatever it takes to get to next March because The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent sounds like the movie we’ve been waiting for our whole lives.
