An MMA Fighter Battles Evil in Korea’s ‘The Divine Fury’ Trailer

When most American audiences think of South Korean films, two genres usually come to mind: martial arts action and horror. But now fans of the nation’s exports won’t have to choose between the two, because the new film The Divine Fury looks to combine both tenets of Korean cinema.

The film is about an MMA fighter (Park Seo-joon) who comes down with a case of stigmata and learns he has been chosen to put his skills to use fighting demons. Here’s the film’s official synopsis, courtesy of JoBlo:

After losing his father at a young age in a terrible accident, Yong-hu (Park) abandons his Christian faith and chooses to only believe in himself. Now as an adult, Yong-hu is a champion fighter and has everything he has ever wanted, that is until mysterious wounds appear in the palms of his hands. He solicits help from a local priest Father Ahn (Ahn Sung-ki), hoping the priest can help relieve him of the painful markings only to find himself in the middle of a dangerous fight against otherworldly evil forces seeking to wreak havoc on the human world.

The Divine Fury has released its first trailer, and it’s pretty much exactly what you’d expect to see from a movie about an MMA fighter who beats the crap out of demons. Lots of fists flying and possessed people screaming, and we are totally here for it. Check it out below.

The Divine Fury will be released in select theaters in the USA on Aug. 16.

In recent years, Gibson has focused...
