Sylvester Stallone Is Working on Another ‘Expendables’ Movie

Sylvester Stallone turned 73 this month, but the action icon isn’t slowing down anytime soon. In addition to Rambo V, which comes out later this year, Stallone is also planning to bring back another of his epic action franchises: The Expendables.

For a time, it looked like the franchise was dead in the water. After the box office successes of 2010’s The Expendables and 2012’s The Expendables 2, 2014’s The Expendables 3 was considerably less successful. While not an outright bomb, the movie didn’t really make enough money to justify a sequel, and it proved to be considerably less popular than its predecessors with fans and critics alike. But despite that, it looks like Sly has decided to right the ship and give us all Expendables 4.

In a post-Independence Day Instagram post, the actor/writer wrote alongside a photo of his character Barney Ross, “All of those July 4th Fireworks got my mind going! I am starting to cook up The next adventure!”

Previous installments have included practically every major action star from the past 30 years, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Harrison Ford, Chuck Norris, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Mel Gibson, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Randy Couture, Ronda Rousey, Mickey Rourke, Liam Hemsworth, and Kellan Lutz. Now, the mind races with who might sign on for a fourth film. Perhaps the Internet’s boyfriend Keanu Reeves has an interest? Or maybe Sly’s new pal Dave Bautista? Or what about Statham’s buddy Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson?

We’ll definitely have to keep our eyes out for further developments, but for now, it looks like Barney and his team of mercenaries will be coming back for another round of one-liners and over-the-top violence!

Michael Mann Wants to Make a ‘Heat’ Prequel

Michael Mann’s 1995 crime thriller Heat is best remembered for being the first film in which screen legends Robert De Niro and Al Pacino share a scene together. The two have since performed together a couple more times, most recently to critical acclaim in last year’s The Irishman. We’re thinking Mann must be a fan...

It’s hard to picture nowadays, but back in the ’80s, Mel Gibson was a bonafide action star. With starring roles in the Lethal Weapon and Mad Max franchises, Gibson was just as significant to the decade’s action movie explosion as his more muscular counterparts Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. In recent years, Gibson has focused...
