When Weaver attempts to reclaim his land, Brewster hires a reclusive gunman (Yul Brynner) to take him out. However, the gunman proves uncontrollable. He refuses to kill Weaver and instead tries to seduce his wife (Janice Rule), all the while wreaking havoc throughout town.

Failing at their first attempt to rob a bank, the boys convince the gruff Spikes to teach them the ways of the desperado.

Eventually, his investigation leads to a feminist bookstore where he falls for Kathleen McCarthy (Lesley Ann Warren), a beautiful aspiring writer. Can Kathleen help Lloyd solve the case?
